The City of Rancho Mirage City Council voted on Thursday, May 7, 2020, to become the local administrator of the Great Plates Delivered program. This program is now live and the City can ensure superior customer service by running it locally. The program is designed to support adults 65 and older and adults 60-64 who are at high-risk from COVID-19, in staying home and staying healthy by delivering three (3) nutritious meals a day, and also provide essential economic stimulus to local Rancho Mirage restaurants.
How does the program work?
The City of Rancho Mirage partners with multiple local Restaurants & Food Providers to deliver three (3) nutritious daily meals to qualified individuals enrolled in the program.
Who qualifies for enrollment into the program?
Individuals who are 65 or older, or 60–64 and at high-risk as defined by the CDC, including:
Individuals who are COVID-19 positive (as documented by a state/local public health official or medical health professional),
Individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 (as documented by a state/local public health official or medical health professional), or
Individuals with an underlying condition.
Individuals must live alone or with one other program-eligible adult
Participants must not be currently receiving assistance from other state or federal nutrition assistance programs

The individual is not eligible for the program if the annual income is above:
$74,940 (single household) or $101,460 (two-person household)
How long will the program run?
The program has been extended through October 9, 2020.
How can I enroll in the program if I believe I qualify?
To enroll please call the Rancho Mirage COVID Hotline at 877-652-4844. The line is monitored Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. by City staff. Eligibility verification can be completed over the phone.
If I receive IHSS services, health care coverage through Medi-Cal, other public assistance, am I eligible to participate in this program?
Yes, as long as criteria for eligibility are met. Receiving other types of public assistance is allowable, just not state or federal nutrition assistance programs.
Can I cancel service or suspend delivery?
Yes but, it can take up to a week for cancellation or suspension to take effect from the time you make the request.
Will I be charged for meals delivered?
No, meals are delivered free of charge through this program.
How many meals may be delivered per day?
Each individual is allowed a maximum of three (3) nutritious meals per day.
How are meals selected and delivered?
Meals meet specific nutritional requirements. Individuals delivering meals are subject to background checks.
When can I expect to have meals delivered?
Meals are delivered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between the window of 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the duration of the program. If you have just enrolled in the program or if you have submitted a new dietary restriction there may be a delay of a few days before you receive your first meal or see your change reflected.
